Growing up a huge fan of DBZ and Ghibli, when Crunchyroll reached out to Ranger & Fox to create an array of graphics for their booths at both Anime Expo and New York Comic Con I was excited.
The deliverables ranged from adapting standard trailers into ultra-wide formats, creating ambient side graphics to pair with the scenes of a trailer, creating animation for a show experience, and standard side ambient backgrounds for holding the title and artwork during the trailer. In addition for the Anime Expo elements, we created matching floor visuals to complement the main screen.
For anime Expo I shared creative direction with Steve Panicara on this project. I specifically handled more of the Kaiju No 8 and Mushoku Tensei projects working with Ted Gore, James Kim, and Rachel DeMeyer. For New York Comic Con I handled creative direction working with Jonny Sidlo and Rachel Demeyer.

Kaiju No. 8:
We animated a full-screen graphical sequence depicting a kaiju attack and the following response from the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. The visuals were further enhanced in the convention with smoke and mist effects at the booths.

Mushoku Tensei
We designed a full-screen transition mimicking animation in the trailer to introduce the second part of the trailer in the middle of the screen and then extended various environments reacting to the center trailer.

Sony Music Template
We designed the side visuals using Crunchyroll’s updated brand guide and synchronized the animation to the music video’s audio.

Bananya and Overlord
We designed and animated fold screens for the sides while the trailer played.
